Detectives investigating a suspected drug supply conspiracy in South Sefton have carried out 10 warrants and arrested eight people this morning, Thursday 27 June.

The strike day comes as part of an operation into conspiracy to supply heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine and cannabis across South Sefton. Warrants were carried out by officers at addresses in Bootle, Litherland, Seaforth, Netherton and one in Crewe, leading to the following arrests:

All those arrested have been taken to police stations across Merseyside for questioning.

A significant quantity of suspected Class A drugs was also seized as part of the warrants.

Superintendent Graeme Robson, area commander for Sefton, said: "Today's action is a result of a long-running investigation into organised criminals we suspect are involved in drug supply in areas of Sefton.

“We completely understand the impact that serious crime has on the vast majority of law-abiding members of these communities and beyond. I want to reassure residents who saw this morning's activity that we will keep working alongside them to disrupt and apprehend those people who we suspect are bringing intimidation, threat and harm to their streets.

"Key to any success that we have is information from those communities, so I would urge anyone with information to keep coming forward, either directly to police or through the charity Crimestoppers, which is completely independent of police.

"No-one should have to put up with drug dealing and the associated crime it attracts. We will continue to work together with our communities to improve the quality of life in our neighbourhood and make those communities stronger."

Cllr Trish Hardy, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, said: “This important action highlights the ongoing work of both Merseyside Police and Sefton Council in continuing to disrupt this blight on our borough.

“As a partnership we have a commitment to putting our residents first and creating safe communities across Sefton

“We want to make sure our strong and vibrant neighbourhoods flourish and we will continue to work closely with Merseyside Police and other partners to disrupt and deter all forms of crime.”

Anyone with information on issues affecting your community is asked to contact @MerPolCC, call 101 or Crimestoppers UK anonymously on 0800 555 111. You can also follow @SeftonPolice on Facebook or @MerPolSouthSefton on Twitter for news, crime prevention advice and events in your area.
